The Bogans: a family.

October 31, 2007

I headed over to The Bogan’s beautiful home on Sunday evening to get some family portraits for them. They just had an outdoor kitchen built in their backyard and it is awesome. I would love to have something like this in my backyard one day. It was a perfect place for their family portraits! We were going to build a fire in the fireplace, but I think everyone decided it was just too HOT! That’s Texas for you.

The littlest Bogan. She was not that thrilled with me, but I got some good ones of her anyway!

For this one I asked my model to look at my camera and not smile. I kept saying “whatever you do DON’T smile.” It worked like a charm. Look at the little giggle working it’s way out! :)

Happy Halloween.

October 31, 2007

Our Halloween celebration started early yesterday when Mia received a surprise package from Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop. She was SO excited!!! Mia axiously waiting for her dad to open the package.

I would also like to say Happy Birthday to my dad! You are my favorite Halloween Ghoul! I hope your present made it safely in the mail ;)

The race is over.

October 30, 2007

It’s over and I didn’t win, but I didn’t come in last!!! Actually I came in 6th out of 11. Not bad for someone who actually HATES exercise. I ran (walked) a little over 40 miles in 30 days. That is nothing compared to the person who did win. Shannon Sewell beat us all with an amazing 139+ miles! The bet was that whoever wins the race gets a $10 itunes gift certificate from everyone who participates and also a link to their blog so here it it. Go check out Shannon’s blog. I would recommend it even if I didn’t have too. ;) She is unbelievably talented!!

The Zimmermans: a family.

October 29, 2007

I have definitely entered the heart of the family Christmas portrait season! I have begun making lists to keep track of my to do lists. I will survive though and when we come out on the other side I will have met tons of new friends and made some great images for these families. That’s my Christmas wish ;)

Here is a fun family that I had the honor of spending time with on Saturday morning. We headed down to one of my favorite locations. The Mandalay canal in Los Colinas.

It was requested that I get mostly shots of their son and I was more than happy to oblige because this boy had the most BEAUTIFUL, sparkly blue eyes that I’ve ever seen. He is going to be a heartbreaker one day!

The Weavers: a family.

October 26, 2007

It’s been a crazy week.  My calendar is getting so full I practically need someone to decipher all the writing and corrections on it.   It just gets worse (or better I should say) from here until Thanksgiving.  :)

Wednesday evening I finally got to meet with the Weaver’s and we had a great time at the park.  They have an awesome park near their home that has lots of wonderful photo opportunities.  Of course it didn’t hurt that they were a completely adorable family and I loved how their outfits coordinated without matching.  Of course, I always love polka dots so………

Don’t forget to scroll down to the next post and see the one from their session that I posted last night.

So often parents tend to focus on the kids when I do a family session.  I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard “if we can just get ONE good family picture and then some of the kids I’ll be happy.”  Well, if that’s all I do then I’M not happy!  I think it’s important for mom and dad to get some good pictures of just the two of them.  I LOVE it when parents give me the chance to capture their love for each other……and not JUST for the kids.  Here is a great example.

I had a fun time with you guys!  I can’t wait to show you the rest of your pictures and find out what else we have in common. ;)

just couldn’t wait.

Here is one from my session last night.  There are more to come, but this one……..I just couldn’t wait any longer to post this one!

I got the chance to do something a little different (for me) on Thursday evening. I was hired by this lovely young lady’s dad to capture her during her homecoming game. She is in the drill team so I got a few of her in the stands and during halftime. The best part? She had NO CLUE! This poor girl didn’t have any idea that I had been hired to get photos of just her. :) It was so fun. I felt like a spy…except that I wasn’t that inconspicuous with my GIANT 80-200mm lens. Anyway, I really enjoyed it and had a great time conspiring with her parents.

mini-session Saturday.

October 15, 2007

I had a quick and painless mini-session on Saturday. This is one of my favorite families. They are repeat clients and I am really getting to know the girls. I think they are getting used to me and my big obnoxious camera too! :)

We did these to get some images for their Christmas cards and I think they are going to work perfectly!

fun family.

October 10, 2007

We met at The Harbor in Rockwall. It was going to be a fun evening! We got a slow start since little Sarah was not thrilled with me and my camera. She warmed up after a trip to Harbor Girl and then we were READY for some fun photos. Special thanks to the owner of Harbor Girl for letting us cool off and change in your store. I hear they host fabulous birthday parties there! They even have a very girlie stage for Karaoke!

While Mom and Sarah did last minute hair touch-ups I got started with Dad and adorable little Jason.

The awesome fountain at The Harbor makes a great backdrop! It kind of reminds me of the one in the opening credits of “Married with Children.” Remember that show? Ha ha ha. This family however DOES NOT remind me of that show!!!!

Georgeous Bride.

October 7, 2007

Well, yesterday was almost a disaster. You know when you wake up and you can just feel that it is going to be one of those days. That was my Saturday. I had a bridal shoot scheduled in the afternoon and I had really been looking forward to it. Wouldn’t you know it….rain. I thought maybe it was just a morning shower, but no….rain all morning. That is when I started to panic. There was NO time to reschedule this shoot. So I called Magan and she didn’t know what to do either. So we start calling around to find some place….any place that would let us shoot indoors. I was about ready to invite her over to the house. Then her mom worked her magic and found a place for us to get out of the rain. She kept saying that God had sent the location to us and I really believe that he did. We ended up at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lewisville. I wasn’t really sure how it was going to turn out, having never seen the location, but let me tell you it is beautiful! We couldn’t have asked for a better place! The people were so nice and accommodating and I, without a doubt, recommend using them for any event. Ask for Stacy and you won’t be sorry!

So on to the pictures.
