a wedding. belated.

November 30, 2007

I finally got around to working on these images. Finally!

These are from a wedding that I second shot with Josh Littrell of Littrell Photography. This was WAY back at the beginning of October. Before the Christmas session madness started.

We started off with the Bride getting ready. But before you see that…..check out the dress.

The groom’s nephews were the ringbearers. Aren’t they adorable in those white tuxes?

I loved the expression on the Bride’s sister’s face as she watched her sister get married.

They gave out LiveStrong bracelets as favors at the reception. Very Cool!

This couple was pretty good at cuttin’ a rug. They were fun to watch dance!

Ahhh. A timeless wedding tradition. The chicken dance. ;)

I had a blast shooting this wedding with Josh. You can see his version of the night on his blog.

Have a great weekend! :)

This is a very exciting post for me. I am so lucky to have been chosen to be the wedding photographer for a couple that is special to me. The bride is the younger sister of my best friend and college roommate. I’ve know Jana since she was about 12 years old. She came and stayed with us in the dorm once on her spring break and we had a blast! She is so fun and reminds me so much of her sister that I can’t help but love her to death too! Jana has met someone and fallen in love and I couldn’t be more excited for her if she was my own sister. When you see these two together you can’t help but be happy for them. Jed is so sweet and very polite. He is in the Army and being married to a military man myself I know that that is one of the things they teach them…..to be polite. Even so I couldn’t help but giggle when he called me M’am. I didn’t get to spend much time with them, but I can tell that Jed is a great match for Jana.

So these two are officially my first “destination” wedding. They are making it official on March 1, 2008 in Sweeny, Texas. Although, they actually live in Tennessee they will be traveling to Jana’s hometown to get married. I can’t wait. I have been told that one of the first decisions Jana made in the planning of their wedding was to hire me as her photographer and I can’t even put together the words to tell you just how much that means to me.

Well, I know you are dying to see the awesome couple so without further ado:

Thanks Jana and Jed for picking me, choosing me, loving me! :) Can’t wait until March.

Been busy.

November 19, 2007

So it’s been awhile since I blogged. I have been buried under Christmas sessions. That is a GOOD thing! I can see the light of day now and I even have something different to share!!

On friday evening I had the EXTREME honor of being asked to document the 50 year renewal of vows for a sweet couple. Their daughter did a lot of the planning and she did a wonderful job. We started off the evening at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano for the ceremony and then headed over to Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson for the lovely reception.

I think it is amazing to have survived (is that the right word to use) 50 years of marriage and I think that it is even more amazing that these two still love each other so much that they wanted to show all their family and friends that after 50 years that they would do it all over again! I hope that my husband and I can be this lucky! 5 down 45 more to go.

Here are just a few of my favorite moments from the evening:

The bride’s beautiful bouquet. I loved the orange flowers on the blue chairs. Blue and orange are complementary colors. Sorry, that’s the art teacher in me talking.  ;)

A sweet moment during their vows. I think this is my favorite from the evening.

Exchanging rings.

Off to the reception………………

The cake.

I loved watching the reactions to the slideshow of family photos through the years. This one of the couple’s granddaughter was priceless!

On second thought this may be my favorite from the evening. The speech the “groom” made about his bride was so sweet.

I really enjoyed being a part of the evening. Thanks so much for choosing me!! And thanks for dinner too. It was yummy! Congratulations to the happy couple. I wish you 50 more years of happiness!

Another beautiful family.

November 7, 2007

I’ve just realized that I have the most good looking clients in the world!  Just take a look at this family.  Georgeous!  5 yr. old Connor was not thrilled with having his picture taken, but I’m sneaky and got some great ones of him anyway. ;)  Hannah, with her beautiful Nicole Kidman red hair, should totally be a model!  She had it down.  I didn’t even direct her.  She just posed away!  We met up at Prairie Creek park in Richardson.  It’s beautiful with a waterfall and more!  Of course, since it is Christmas Card photo season it was NUTS.  There were so many people and photographers and it you weren’t careful you were in danger of being blinded by reflectors from every side.  We survived it though and here are just a few of my favorite images that we managed to get in the midst of all that busyness.  You would think there was not another soul at the park from the look of these photos, but believe me…..it was PACKED!

Scarygus.

Mia has discovered a vegtable she likes………finally!!  She couldn’t get enough of it last night at dinner.  She can’t really pronouce it correctly, but it’s so cute I don’t ever want her too.  I guess it would be weird for a 15 year old to say “please pass the scarygus.”  Maybe, I’ll tell her what it is really called when she turns 13?

Cousins.

November 5, 2007

On Saturday I met with 3 adorable, georgeous, cute cousins. Seriously, it’s not fair to have this many beautiful kids in ONE family!!  First up was cutie 2 1/2 yr. old Payton. Her mommy made her shirt. I LOVE it!

cousins_sneakpeek-1.jpg

Then while Payton went to change into her formal clothes her cousins had their turn in front of my camera. This brother and sister were some of the easiest models I’ve had in quite awhile. Emily and Alex didn’t even have fake, cheesy smiles when I asked them to smile. What kid DOESN’T have a cheesy, fake smile? They made my job a breeze!

cousins_sneakpeek-2.jpg

I love her smile with her eyes squinched (is that a word?). She was the CUTEST little thing. She didn’t love looking at the camera, but when she heard there may be candy involved she was more than happy to keep on smiling for me.

This one was pure luck. ;) I looked back as we were walking to our next location and saw this. I didn’t even have time to reset my camera. Thank goodness I shoot in RAW!!

Seriously, have you ever seen more beautiful children?
