We are family.

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Well…..THEY are family. ;)  Brothers and sisters actually.  This group of brothers and sisters was fun.  They had me laughing out loud several times.  They braved heat, sun and even some toe nibbling catfish to get these images for their mom.  Everyone say AWWWW!  Someone did a good job raising some sweet and thoughtful children didn’t they?

Thanks guys.  Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed creating them for you!

The Oldhams: a family.

Monday, July 28th, 2008

On Saturday I was very nervous. All day I thought about the special session I had scheduled that evening. Some good friends of mine had asked me to do a family session for them. I usually don’t get nervous before sessions anymore but this one was extra special to me because I have known them for so long. Zac and I have known each other for almost 20 years! He was at my 13th birthday party and I have photos of us from Jr. High when I was taller than him…..and if you’ve met me you know that I’m not ever taller than ANYONE! I met Ronna when she and Zac got engaged and when Saylor and I moved back to Plano she quickly welcomed me into her group of friends. I held both of their babies when they were just days old and have watched them grow. Their oldest is one of Mia’s best friends. This was a special session for me.

And we had fun! They were so laid back…as always….and the session went just as good as I had hoped.

Ashley: spokesmodel.

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Meet Ashley.  She is one of my 2008-2009  Senior Spokesmodels.  We headed down to Deep Elum for her spokesmodel session on Thursday evening and had a blast!  Miss Ashley is a Senior at Liberty High School in Frisco and a cheerleader on the Varsity squad.  She’s also a pretty good model!  If you are looking for some awesome seniors portraits, want something a little different AND would love a free gift with your session then find Ashley at Liberty HS and get one of her spokesmodels cards.  It will have more info on how to get in on the deal!

Check her out:

Hangin’ with the boys.

Monday, July 21st, 2008

On Saturday I had a fun and EXHAUSTING session…..with 5 boys. They ran, and they played with sticks and threw rocks and before the evening was over they had all waded through the creek too. See I told you it was exhausting.  I don’t know where they got all that energy, but they sure gave me a run for my money! I’m glad for all our hard work we got some awesome images of these 5 cuties. I had a hard time narrowing them down to just a few so here are my favorites so far:

An album.

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

I thought it would be fun to share an album pre-design.  With each of my wedding packages I include an online “album debut” which is basically my version of the story of the couple’s wedding day in an album format.  The couple then has up to two rounds of changes and they pick their choice of cover style etc.  I really enjoy designing the albums for clients and think that the best way for them to see their wedding images for the first time is as an album.  It just really tells their wedding story better than any other product I offer.  Here is a wedding album pre-design from a recent wedding.

A small and simple thing.

Just had to share this one from yesterday of my dear friend Jill’s son and daughter.

And also this great quote:

Mamma Mia!

Is anyone else DYING to see this movie? I may be about to embarrass myself by sharing this, but I am a musical junkie! I LOVE them. Especially the ones with happy upbeat music. I have been looking forward to seeing this movie since I first saw the trailer……maybe around Christmas! There are so many things that make me want to see it. First, it’s about a wedding…..I LOVE weddings. Second, one of the stars is Amanda Seyfried of Big Love and Mean Girls (I know….what can I say I like trashy TV). Third it’s set in Greece which is the one place I’ve decided I HAVE to visit before my life ends. Seriously doesn’t it look like the most beautiful, interesting place on earth? And last but not least…….ABBA music. O.k. Now I have REALLY embaressed myself. Yes, I admit I like ABBA, but I am not the only one or they wouldn’t still be popular now would they? Anyway, if anyone wants to join us I think my little Mamma Mia and I will be going to see this on Friday when it comes out. :) She loves musicals too. Come to think of it so does my grandmother……maybe it’s hereditary.

Blog. Smlog.

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Who has time to blog……I do actually. I just haven’t been in the blogging mood recently. With swim lessons, VBS, Dr. appointments, house guests, a new big girl bed and a major national holiday oh yeah and a big wedding you would think I couldn’t get enough of blogging. Alas (does anyone use that word anymore), I just haven’t felt up to it. Are there any stay at home/work at home moms out there that can sympathize with me? As much as I love, love, love my job and love, love, love spending time with my daughter it has become VERY difficult to do both. Mia is actually pretty understanding when she has invited me for the 15th time of the day to a tea party in her room and she is turned down with a ‘I can’t I HAVE to finish these photos’. The only problem……I’m afraid she may stop inviting me. :(

So does anyone have any suggestions for how to balance life and editing (I mean working)? I have promised her a trip somewhere out of the house this afternoon. So I have a little more work to do on Joanna and David’s wedding album pre-design (which I will hopefully be sharing here soon) and then Mia and I are off on a mini-adventure. It may not be the beginning of perfectly balancing my life, but it’s a start. :)
