This past weekend I went down to Sweeny, TX to shoot the wedding of Jana and Jed.  I’ve know the bride for a long time.  Her older sister was my college roommate.  This was quite a different experience for me because I knew most of the family and I even stayed with them for the weekend.  It was cool to see a wedding from the side of the family….especially all the work that occurs AFTER the bride and groom leave.  Usually I’m out of there quickly after they are, but this time I stuck around while the family cleaned and packed up all the decorations and food.  And I sat up and watched (I was too exhausted to help) as they put all the food away.  I have a completely new respect for my parents and Saylor’s parents now after seeing how much WORK there is AFTER the wedding is over.  I know after my wedding I was so tired and they must have been also, but they still had work to do while Saylor and I finally got to rest and even went on VACATION!  Someday it will be my turn to be the parent who cleans it all up so I guess that is the circle of life.  Ha ha ha.

Anyway, I had a GREAT time and can’t wait to photograph the next Duncan girl’s wedding.  Whenever that may be. ;)  Love you guys!  Thanks for having me.

Here are some of my favorites.  Beware I had a hard time choosing so there are a ton!

The last one was requested by the mother of the bride.  Notice the empty pockets.  They have four daughters.  Can you imagine planning and paying for 4 weddings?  I asked the Dad if it was rough having four daughters and he said “I’ve always thought it was a blessing.”  I think I would have to agree. :)

My daughter turned 3 years old 3 days ago and I just realized that I didn’t take her picture or write a blog post for her. I do have a very good excuse. I was spending the day with Magan and Clark at their beautiful wedding. By the way, Mia’s party is this weekend so I can do her birthday post then. :)

Saturday was a gorgeous day for a wedding and I had a fabulous assistant! My husband went along with me to shoot this wedding and he did a wonderful job. He let me boss him around all day. He ran every errand I asked him to do and he even did them in a suit! Oh, and he took some awesome pictures also.

I know there are several people that are looking forward to seeing this sneak peek so I will get to the important part of this post……the images.

The wedding was at The Wildwood Inn in Denton. It is a great venue! The staff were very helpful and accommodating.

This is another one of Saylor’s shots from the day. I guess I am going to have to come up with a way to designate the ones that he took……Oh well, next time!

There will be a slideshow of my favorite images from Magan and Clark’s big day soon. I’ll post it when it is online!

Best wishes to the new couple and hope you have a wonderful time in Cancun!

November 30, 2007

I finally got around to working on these images. Finally!

These are from a wedding that I second shot with Josh Littrell of Littrell Photography. This was WAY back at the beginning of October. Before the Christmas session madness started.

We started off with the Bride getting ready. But before you see that…..check out the dress.

The groom’s nephews were the ringbearers. Aren’t they adorable in those white tuxes?

I loved the expression on the Bride’s sister’s face as she watched her sister get married.

They gave out LiveStrong bracelets as favors at the reception. Very Cool!

This couple was pretty good at cuttin’ a rug. They were fun to watch dance!

Ahhh. A timeless wedding tradition. The chicken dance. ;)

I had a blast shooting this wedding with Josh. You can see his version of the night on his blog.

Have a great weekend! :)

Been busy.

November 19, 2007

So it’s been awhile since I blogged. I have been buried under Christmas sessions. That is a GOOD thing! I can see the light of day now and I even have something different to share!!

On friday evening I had the EXTREME honor of being asked to document the 50 year renewal of vows for a sweet couple. Their daughter did a lot of the planning and she did a wonderful job. We started off the evening at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano for the ceremony and then headed over to Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson for the lovely reception.

I think it is amazing to have survived (is that the right word to use) 50 years of marriage and I think that it is even more amazing that these two still love each other so much that they wanted to show all their family and friends that after 50 years that they would do it all over again! I hope that my husband and I can be this lucky! 5 down 45 more to go.

Here are just a few of my favorite moments from the evening:

The bride’s beautiful bouquet. I loved the orange flowers on the blue chairs. Blue and orange are complementary colors. Sorry, that’s the art teacher in me talking.  ;)

Off to the reception………………

The cake.

I loved watching the reactions to the slideshow of family photos through the years. This one of the couple’s granddaughter was priceless!

On second thought this may be my favorite from the evening. The speech the “groom” made about his bride was so sweet.

I really enjoyed being a part of the evening. Thanks so much for choosing me!! And thanks for dinner too. It was yummy! Congratulations to the happy couple. I wish you 50 more years of happiness!

Georgeous Bride.

October 7, 2007

Well, yesterday was almost a disaster. You know when you wake up and you can just feel that it is going to be one of those days. That was my Saturday. I had a bridal shoot scheduled in the afternoon and I had really been looking forward to it. Wouldn’t you know it….rain. I thought maybe it was just a morning shower, but no….rain all morning. That is when I started to panic. There was NO time to reschedule this shoot. So I called Magan and she didn’t know what to do either. So we start calling around to find some place….any place that would let us shoot indoors. I was about ready to invite her over to the house. Then her mom worked her magic and found a place for us to get out of the rain. She kept saying that God had sent the location to us and I really believe that he did. We ended up at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lewisville. I wasn’t really sure how it was going to turn out, having never seen the location, but let me tell you it is beautiful! We couldn’t have asked for a better place! The people were so nice and accommodating and I, without a doubt, recommend using them for any event. Ask for Stacy and you won’t be sorry!

So on to the pictures.

Worth the wait…..

September 7, 2007

I know…I’ve been an awful blogger recently. Hopefully what I have to share will make it worth the wait though ;)

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to second shoot a wedding for the first time. I think I LOVE IT! It was so much fun. Josh Littrell of Littrell Photography was gracious enough to give me the chance to tag along with him. He was extremely helpful and generous (letting me borrow several of his lenses) and I really appreciate the opportunity. Check out his blog and website when you get the chance!

So here are just a few that I’ve finally had the chance to play around with. There are SO many more, but I have tons of portrait client stuff to work on also so the wedding pictures will have to wait a little longer.

First a few getting ready pictures:

This is one of my favorites! The brides son walked her down the aisle. He was the cutest thing! The wedding was at the beautiful First Christian Church in Plano. The stained glass windows are GORGEOUS!!!
